We would like to acknowledge the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes Blackfoot Confederacy members Siksika, Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations, the Stoney Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Wesley First Nations, the Dene of Tsuut’ina First Nations, and the Métis Nation Region 3, and all those that made Treaty 7 lands their home.

Note that the requirements of the MGA for open and transparency in government, means that some correspondence with Council or administration may be included in Council agendas including your contact information.

The Municipal Election of 2021 voted in Council to serve for a period of 4 years.  Each fall in October there is an Organizational meeting held in, which the term of Mayor and Deputy-Mayor are determined for the next year. Committee appointments are also reviewed and revised at the Organizational Meeting.

Council remuneration is set by policy. The Village of Longview compensates Council members for the number of meetings they attend including mileage if travel is required. This compensation does not generally cover all the time invested in serving the community. Councillors are entitled to this stipend. In the past some Councillors have not claimed all of the meetings attended or travel involved in service of their community and donate this to the benefit of the community.
